Our Rock

“No one is holy like the Lord, for there is none besides You, nor is there any Rock like our God.” (1 Samuel: 2)

This verse gives us a clear indication of Hannah’s faith in God. It shows her relationship and understanding of his ability. It also teaches us what true praise and worship looks like. In the bible a “rock” is symbolic of permanence, endurance, endurability, strength and integrity. Rocks reflect the immovable and stable. We learned in the previous verse that Hannah knew her strength was found in the Lord. Here she teaches us that when we come into the presence of The Lord, we should not focus on our own strength, but that of God’s. “No one is holy like the Lord”, therefore his guidance and advice is paramount to any others. Seek him through prayer and praise. Trust in God’s permanent, immovable, strength during times of hardship and rejoice in it always.

Do The Work

A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.
Colin Powell

There isn’t a car that you will drive, or house that you will live in, that did not first begin with a vision. That vision was later developed into a design and that design was crafted into what you now live in and drive. Just as there is a design and sequence to any construction, there is also a design and sequence to the vision God has given you. There is a sequence to your destiny! God’s word says that “The steps of a good man are ordered by The Lord, and He delights in his way” (Psalm 37:23). When God gives us direction or a vision, we have to prayerfully and faithfully begin the course.

Remember, Abraham allowed God to order his steps and look at the many ways God blessed Him and the legacy He left. You my friend are no different than Abraham. Yes, you may have to tread unforeseen hurdles and terrain, experience some loss, and sever some ties. However, In the end, you are a direct descendant of Jesus Christ and He wants nothing more than to bless you.

Feed Your Spirit

The word of God is ALIVE and POWERFUL. It is SHARPER than the sharpest two-edge sword, CUTTING between SOUL and SPIRIT, between joint and marrow. It EXPOSES our innermost THOUGHTS and DESIRES. (Hebrews 4:12, NLT)

People who know me best, refer to me as a bookworm because I prefer reading a book to watching television. While most are glued to a television, I’m nose deep inside of a book. I have to admit that I went through the whole romance novel phase first. As I began to walk closer with Christ, I noticed that those books changed. My interest gradually went from romance to spirituality. I still enjoy a good romance novel, but they don’t feed me the same way as spirit filled books.

Spiritual reading is good, but the bible is something more powerful and special. Think for a moment! The Bible has been a source of transformation and spiritual nurturing in the lives of millions over the centuries. Powerful right? The Bible has inspired some of the greatest writings from the poetry of Psalms, the parables of Jesus Christ and many of my blogs that you’ve already read. There are book stores filled with devotionals that touch the lives of others daily that we’re inspired by the bibles illuminating words.

I want to encourage you today to begin to dig deep within your Bible. If reading the Bible is something new for you, buy a study Bible with a modern translation so it will be easier to understand. Pray to God and ask him for revelation and understanding of his word. Trust me, He will do just that! Reading the Bible will help you discover spiritual riches and fill your heart and soul. Meditate on its inner meaning for you and watch God work!

Remember that “Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another-showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way. 2 Timothy 3:16 The Message

Drawn To You

Those eyes that beg, wanting, yearning for me
Those lips, ummm I can only imagine are so sweet
Paralyzingly Voodoo
I can’t figure it out!

Baby I’m just so drawn to you…I Long for you….
Better yet, I yearn for you!

To my surprise, I can’t disguise the bewilderment of my desire
So strong
Scent pungent…oh my how I want it!

Baby I’m drawn to you….I Long for you….
Better yet, I yearn for you.

Perhaps we’re Kindred Spirits
Destined for a greater purpose
So I will piss off my flesh and pray my desire meets death
Just keep in mind on today, perhaps tomorrow and the next

Baby I’m drawn to you…I long for you
Better yet, I yearn for you

Be Bold! Be Blessed! Be Courageous!

His Best

God has His best things for the few
Who dare to stand the test,
God has HIS second choice for those
Who will not take His best.
And others make the highest choice,
But when by trials pressed,
They shrink, they yield, they shun the Cross,
And so they lose his best.

I want in this short life of mine
As much as can be pressed
Of service true for God and man-
Help me to be Thy best.
I want among the victor-throng
To have my name confessed,
And hear the Master say at last-
“Well done! You did your best.”

Is there ambition in my heart?
Search, gracious God, and see;
Or do I act a haughty part?
Lord, I appeal to Thee.

I charge my thoughts, be humble still,
All my carriage mild,
Contender, my Father with Thy will,
And quiet as a child.

The patient soul, the lovely mind
Shall have a large reward:
Let saints in sorrow lie resign’d,
And trust a faithful Lord.

Natural Hair Encouragement

Dear Ladies Rocking your Natural Hair,

I just finished double strand twisting my hair. Talk about work!! Labor!! I just want to encourage you to stay strong. Yes! “Stay Strong” because this is truly hard work! It takes great effort everyday to REMAIN natural! It’s a mental challenge whenever we have to detangle, co-wash, moisturize, twist…OMG the list goes on and on!! People will question you as to WHY YOU shout out and hash tag #TeamNatural like GANG members throw up gang signs. We all know that it isn’t until they too lay down the CREAMY CRACK and recognize the time, dedication, effort and often times ridicule we encounter to maintain these beautiful tresses, that they will understand. They don’t understand that detangling our tresses sometimes require us to sing songs such as “Encourage Yourself” as we pull, tug and reach! So on today I just want to say Keep it Up! This isn’t a movement. With all the time and dedication required, It’s a new part-time profession ;-)..lol!

Be Bold! Be Blessed! Be Courageous!
